I worked in Apple Retail for 5 years at R221 (Fair Oaks). In that time, I learned so much about myself and the way Apple works. I learned the value of fearless feedback, collaboration, setting yourself and your team up for success, and how to diffuse difficult situations. More than anything, I decided then and there that I would work for Apple Corporate. After making a mark at my Apple Store, I decided to pursue higher education at SCAD for a UX degree.
I've used quite a few Apple-internal retail apps up until 2019 — including Hello, EasyPay, Runner, Concierge, MobileGenius, and more. I understand the on-ground perspective of the people who use the designs we create. I've felt the stress that comes with a feature that wasn't well thought-out, and I remember the joy my team and I knew when we shipped a feature that was truly helpful.
At Apple, we find leaders everywhere. I led the Visual Merchandizing team at Fair Oaks, I led new hires through my time as a Lead and Learn trainer, and I lead workshops at school to support ongoing technical education. I love sharing the joy of technology with others, and working at Apple helped me find so much value in myself and those around me.
Apple is known the world over for their ability to innovate and create simple, powerful tools for every person in the world. I want my work to enrich the lives of those who use it, and Apple is the best way to make sure that happens.
Apple's core values have impacted how I view the world around me. Inclusion Inspires Innovation helped me expand my narrow view of thinking to welcome and even celebrate diversity. I met so many different people, with so many different walks of life, and through that saw the value of different experiences.
When I started at Apple in 2014, I had no idea how it would change my life. Over the next five years until my departure, I learned so much about my role in the workplace and who I wanted to be. After leaving for school in 2019, I had one mission: to return to Apple, but this time, as a designer. I'm open to this path taking many routes, but I think my skills are ready and the time is right now.
